The Carillon Bell Tower

August 25, 2008 marks the second day at Berkeley, California. I've finally finished all the errands I had to do - get ID card, bus pass, buy books (at cheapest price possible), change mailing address on bank account, figure out where classes are, explore campus, learn bus routes, etc. - and other things - buy Jason Mraz tickets (Sept. 2, Greek Theater which is right next to my dorm! yeahyahhh!), buy awesome threadless shirt I was waiting for to be reprinted, rearrange furniture, etc.

FEARS::
  • getting jacked! (though I am on the 4th floor in the secluded and lightly populated dorm on top of a big hill and the chances are a lot less compared to Etty, Fery, Ark, and Acy)
  • getting lost
  • getting jumped at night
  • having no money
  • FAILING
WORRIES::
  • not getting along with suite mates/not knowing them (Foothills - my dorm - people aren't as social as the other dorms since we're more cut off from each other and grouped in smaller ... groups.
  • not getting a work study job (which reminds me, i need to fill out that app)
  • not getting internet
SORROWS::
  • Shimshim isn't here
  • Shimshim is going to UCLA
  • Etty and I are here, Shimshim is not
  • lacking Shimshim in Berkeley life
(Etty and I without Shimshim is like having a trilogy without the second volume.)

JOYS::
  • lots of space in dorm
  • awesome cool weather
  • amazing view
  • close proximity of dorm to bell tower
  • cool dorm mate
  • pretty nice suite mates (so far, at least)
  • my ISF self-deceptions class (excited for it!)
  • Jason Mraz concert!!!!
  • my Hello Kitty keychains
  • my three day weekends! (only have classes mon-thurs, with only one class on wed.)
  • incredible neighborhood with awesome stores
HOPES (possibilites)::
  • join ASUC (student gov.) or dorm government
  • join Circle K
  • get job at University Library
  • meet lots of awesome people
  • survive
  • have fun
  • get straight A's
  • find a good church/fellowship/youth group
  • force Shimshim to visit during Labor Day weekend!

I don't feel like I'm truly in college yet. I just feel like I've come to stay at a camping lodge and about to go back home next week. But, I love it. I'm excited. And and and and.... YOU SHOULD ALL GO TO COLLEGE! :D

The air is SO much cleaner here than in Los Angeles.
